FOM TEAM

Scott Oldenburgh, Sr. Pastor

What do you do at FOM?

We came to Fellowship of the Metroplex back in 2001. We started off by serving in children's ministry, we were Life Group leaders, and eventually some part time associate pastor work. In 2004, I became the Senior Pastor of Fellowship of the Metroplex..

Where did you go to school?

I grew up in Abilene, Texas. I graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1995 and eventually got my Masters of Divinity degree from Logsdon School of Theology in 2001.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Outside of my family and ministry at Fellowship of the Metroplex, I’m a sports junkie! I play Fantasy Sports pretty much all year long and am a die hard Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys fan.

Tell us how God has changed your life?

While I grew up with an understanding of God, I can honestly say that I never truly knew God or that God had a plan for my life until late in high school. A student pastor really reached out and began to show me what God's love was all about. He recognized leadership abilities in me that I never knew existed and before long God had called me to surrender to full time ministry. Watching what God has done in my life has given me a great passion to see God use "ordinary people to do incredible things" with their lives. One of my greatest passions is for the local church. The church isn't just an institution and too many times people associate the church with being just a religious relic in the community. My life is dedicated to seeing the church reach its full potential for building God's kingdom!

Tell us about your family?

Outside of my relationship with God, my family is by far my greatest passion and source of life! I married "way out of my league"! Michelle and I are not just married - we truly enjoy hanging out together. We both share a passion for travelling! We have 2 incredible kids, Tanner and Emily, who both have hearts for God and make us laugh all the time!

Barry Parker, Worship Pastor

What do you do at FOM?

In 1996 Leanne and I had the privilege of stepping out from our home Church in North Arlington to help start Fellowship Of The Metroplex, a plant of The Church On Rush Creek. I was totally unworthy to lead the worship team but they were desperate! What a dream to find my passion in worship and serving Christ through music at our church. I am truly a testimony and the poster child of how God can use the unqualified.

Where did you go to school?

Studied at Eastern Michigan and UTA in Vocal performance/communications.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy spending time outside, especially in warm weather. During the summer I really enjoy swimming and doing stuff in the yard. I enjoy movies and especially if I can have a cold Mountain Dew. I enjoy traveling but don’t get to do it as much as I’d like but it always good to get out of town for a few days.

Tell us how God has changed your life?

Life change for me happened when I was young, blessed by parents that loved and lived out their faith and service to the Lord with genuine joy. Their lives were contagious and I caught it! Later in life, after the dream of becoming a Christian recording artist had faded, I fell in love with the Church and desired nothing more than to serve in any capacity. It didn’t matter what it was I just wanted to be part of what God was doing. I surrendered my life in a new way to Jesus, this time without ambitions of a career, but as a servant.

Tell us about your family?

Leanne and I have been since 1986 and have 2 children - Kayla and Micah. One of my greatest joys as a husband and father is that my family wants to serve with me. I hope that never changes.

Chris Farrell, Life Groups Pastor

What do you do at FOM?

Here at FOM we all about seeing God doing amazing things in people’s lives and we believe the best atmosphere we can create for God to do that is our life groups. I work with all of our Life Groups leaders to help create a place where they can develop “genuine worship of God”, “genuine relationships with other Christians”, and “genuine compassion for our world”.

Where did you go to school?

I am a proud member of the Texas A&M class of 2001. After college I attended Dallas Theological Seminary where, in 2005, I earned a Master’s in Christian Education and also a Master’s in Biblical Studies.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I am a big football and basketball fan, so during those seasons you can find me either watching a game or sucking wind as I try to play. I enjoy movies, TV shows, and reading about church stuff. My wife and I have been blessed to live in some great places over the years and we love travelling to see this big world God created.

Tell us how God has changed your life?

I grew up being very active in church life so I learned all the right answers and how to play the “Christian” part really well. When I got to college God really got hold of me and forced me to see that living my life the right way or knowing the right answers wasn’t what He wanted – He just wanted for me to live my life as an act of worship to Him in thanks for what He’d already done through His Son Jesus Christ. I still screw up a lot - just ask my wife - but now my mind and heart more often than not seek His glory above my own.

Tell us about your family?

I met my Amanda in the singles ministry at the church I attended during my seminary years. She had just moved to Dallas and was checking out churches. We became very good friends and then I finally realized she was the one God had put in my life for this adventure. Amanda and I have been married since 2006 and in that time have moved across America three times; she has been a huge blessing and real adventure seeker. She is my best friend and I can’t imagine what I’d be doing without her.

Casey Osborne, Children’s Pastor

What do you do at FOM?

My goal is to see parents influence their kids spiritually to become the men and women God intends for them to be. My dream for our families is that they become amazed and perplexed at what God is doing in their own families. I want kids to discover their talents and use them to promote Jesus Christ.

Where did you go to school?

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Religion from Baylor University and a Master of Arts in Family Psychology from Hardin-Simmons University

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like a lot of things - I’m into graphic design, video production, audio production, theatrical set design, themed environments, Disneyland, old cars, airplanes, motorcycles, and cool leather jackets.

Tell us how God has changed your life?

For me, it's more that God is constantly changing my life . . . I've always been very independent, and God is showing me that I shouldn't be trying to figure everything out on my own. The first part of Acts was a recent eye-opening reminder that God used to change how I go about things. In Acts, the apostles were amazed and perplexed at what was happening. God’s spirit came and filled everyone there. It was unexplainable. It was like nothing they had seen before. The more I try to figure things out on my own, the less amazed and perplexed I become.

Tell us about your family?

I am the perpetual bachelor, so my dog Lucky and I rule the house.

Wes Jones, Student Pastor

What do you do at FOM?

My goal is to help our Jr. High & High School students have a place where they personally experience God’s grace and also have a lot of fun being with each other.

Where did you go to school?

I received my Bachelors degree from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX and I am currently attending Dallas Theological Seminary.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love sports . . . maybe too much. I play pretty much any sport and do anything that presents a challenge. I love wake-boarding and snow-boarding and spending time in the mountains. Spending time with friends and family is also very important to me!

Tell us how God has changed your life?

I grew up in a family where we were forced to go to church and I hated it. It wasn't until my freshman year of high school that God radically transformed my life. My eyes have been opened up to the depth of his love and mercy. It seems like every single day I am reminded of how desperate I am for His grace.

Tell us about your family?

My family is a little bit crazy! My mother and father live in Eldorado, TX and are looking forward to retirement in the near future! My brother lives in Arizona and my sister lives in Plano. God has blessed me with such an amazing family – we’re all pretty close.

Nate Holden, Servant Leadership Pastor

What do you do at FOM?

We started attending FOM after receiving a flyer advertising the launch of a new church in 1996. My first involvement in ministry was helping with the take-down after service. After developing relationships with the guys in that ministry, we joined a Life Group and eventually lead that group for a few years. When the church purchased property in 2000, I became the Associate Pastor of Operations, managing the building & property. I also led the Nursery & Toddler ministry until a full-time pastor was hired. Currently, I lead the Set-Up and Take-Down teams for services in Jobe Middle School. I am also involved in the Hospitality Ministry and recently became a Life Group Leader again.

Where did you go to school?

After a year at Northwestern University in Louisiana, I joined the United States Air Force where I proudly served four years of active duty and seventeen years in the reserves in the area of Medical Logistics. After my active duty in the Air Force I attended UT- Arlington, where I pursued a degree in Business Management.

What do you like to do in your free time?

My wife & I enjoy the outdoors, especially hiking and skiing. I also like to fish and hunt.

Tell us how God has changed your life?

God changed my life through his Word. After listening to messages at FOM and learning how the Bible is applicable to everyday life, I started reading the Bible on a daily basis and God spoke to me through his Word. I learned that if we seek God’s heart and learn His character, then we will be equipped to live the lives He has planned for us. In the Word, we learn to love God and how He expects us to love other.

Tell us about your family?

Kelly Ann and I have been married since 1991 and our relationship is better today than it was in the honeymoon stage. I know in my heart that the joy we have in our relationship is because God is at the center of both of our lives. We have two sons, Justin and Kevin, who bring us so much joy - we’re so proud of the men they have become.

Karen Rajendran, Administrative Assistant

What do you do at FOM?

According to just about everyone I supposedly keep things running around here, but in reality I just keep the boys in check. I work with all the pastors to make sure whatever needs to get done happens on time. I love my job and working with these incredible pastors!

Where did you go to school?

I’m going to be one of those silly NFL players and only list my high school…haha! I attended Patrick Henry High School in San Diego, CA. I did attend college at San Diego State but didn’t finish because I started having kids. In my dreams I would go back to school and major in Art History.

What do you like to do in your free time?

You’ll usually find me in a movie theatre (all kinds except scary/slasher ones) eating buttered popcorn with sour patch kids. I love to read, go to museums, or mess around in the kitchen (I love to cook!). Ask anyone - my potato salad is the best around!

Tell us how God has changed your life?

I was technically “saved” at 13, but didn’t really begin my relationship with Jesus until I was 37 when I began to attend FOM. I’m definitely not the same woman I was when Jesus found me. Looking back, I can see that God was preparing me for the great changes I’ve experienced over the last 10 years. He brought me to a church, gave me a family to stand by me (and sometimes to carry me) when the going got tough. He gave me something I didn’t even know I needed, and now know I can’t live without.

Tell us about your family?

I have two adult children, Alycia & Stephen. Alycia graduated from the University of Miami and is now exploring career options with the Navy. Stephen attends UT-Arlington and wants to be an elementary school teacher. My mother and brother still live in San Diego and try weekly to get me to move back.

Leanne Parker, Finance Assistant

What do you do at FOM?

I take care of the daily business and financial record keeping of the church. My first job at FOM was to start the church office, but thankfully as we grew and hired more office staff I got to move into the financial aspect of things and back to my first love – numbers and accounting! I know – I’m a math geek.

Where did you go to school?

I majored in Accounting at the University of Tennessee – Go Vols!

What do you like to do in your free time?

Decorate, watch HGTV, read, go to band contests, tutor, lead kids in worship and pretend I can dance when I watch “Dancing With The Stars”.

Tell us how God has changed your life?

God took a baby, gave her a loving Christian mom and dad so that they could introduce her to Jesus. When Jesus knocked on my heart’s door at the age of seven, I already knew what it meant to be adopted, so I knew I wanted to be adopted into God’s family. His unconditional love, forgiveness and acceptance continue to give my life meaning, purpose, direction and a place of belonging. I’ve watched His hand work in my life from birth to now and His care and protection never cease to amaze me!

Tell us about your family?

I am married to a wonderful man who loves God with all his heart (one of God’s works in my life). Barry and I have been married since 1986. We’ve been blessed with two beautiful kids, Kayla and Micah who we’ve had the privilege of introducing to Jesus and watching them develop in their journey of faith.
